Alex + Adam {married}

Alex found her dream dress with us in the early part of 2019. She wanted something elegant and simple with some lace detail and a higher neckline for her fall wedding. After creating this beautiful gown there was no doubt that it was what she wanted to wear on her wedding day!

We just love Alex and Adam’s love story:

Our love story began far away from both of our homes, in an elevator! Adam had moved from Maryland to Omaha, Nebraska to pursue his career in finance and I was starting a second year pharmacy residency in oncology at Nebraska Medicine. We quickly made small talk on our short elevator ride and discovered we lived right across the hall from one another. Over the next few weeks we bumped into each other here and there, but it wasn't until one night, after a few drinks at happy hour, that Adam decided to cross the hallway and knock on my door. My parents were visiting that weekend, so he came in and met the family. The next week we went on our first date and the rest is history! A few years later, Adam received a promotion and moved to Chicago. We did long distance for a while, but soon I joined him in the big city. Last year, he surprised me by getting down on one knee in front of my family, and hundreds of strangers, while visiting "The Bean" in Chicago.  I immediately said yes and was surprised again, when his family came running over to celebrate!

We immediately started planning our dream wedding in my hometown of Bardstown, KY.  Growing up in a small town, I had always dreamed of getting married in the same church my parents were married, with the reception at the same location as well.  On November 2, my dream came true.  Big on traditions, we buried a bottle of bourbon at the lawn at Spalding Hall a month before our wedding day in hopes it would bring good weather.  It worked!  We had an absolutely perfect, crisp, fall day with lots of sunshine!  The girls got ready at my late neighbor's house (a very close family friend who was like a grandmother to me).   I got dressed in my childhood home, had my first look with my father on our front porch, and first look with Adam in the backyard.  We walked through downtown Bardstown to take pictures and were greeted by honks and well wishes being shouted from strangers and family!  We had one hiccup in the day when we couldn't find our bottle of buried bourbon.  We dug up several spots but were unsuccessful.  Finally, one of the groomsmen found it and we all took turns passing it around!  The ceremony was celebrated by my cousin once-removed, as well as the priest who married my parents 34 years ago.  Afterwards, we had dinner, dancing, and cigars on the lawn at Spalding Hall.  It truly was the most magical day celebrated with family and friends!

I can only imagine the sweet words this father said to his daughter in this toast, but the reason I had to add this photo, is that I instantly recognized the stuffed animal he is handing her. I am sure it was her much-cherished childhood lovey because I had the exact same (and equally loved) Puffalump Cow in a little white dress too!
